A dental emergency is any teeth or oral cavity related problem that requires immediate care.
If you have unbearable tooth pain that doesn’t relieve even after pain medication you should call or consult your dentist immediately.
If you or your family member has knocked out their teeth because of some accident you should visit the dentist immediately, meanwhile you should apply icepack and take over the counter pain killers for pain. You should put the teeth in milk or saline if they are not available hold the teeth between your lips and gum. Do not try scrub the tooth. Your dentist has better chance of saving your teeth if it is replaced into the socket within an hour.
If you have broken filling or dislodged restoration book an appointment with dentist as soon as possible. If you have dislodged crown/bridge do not throw away the crown and bring it to your dentist on your appointment.
A dental abscess welling is a pus filled swelling in the gum causing pain. If left untreated an abscess can cause swelling of the face and it can spread to other parts so you should visit the dentist as soon as possible. In the meantime to ease pain rinse your mouth with salt water gargle.
