Post Operative Instructions After Tooth Extraction

Following the instructions given by your dentist after oral surgery and tooth extraction are crucial for better healing, preventing complications and smooth recovery.

Do’s

  • Bite firmly on the cotton for half an hour
  • Apply ice pack to reduce swelling
  • Take the prescribed medication on time
  • Eat soft diet
  • Maintain oral hygiene
  • Some swelling is common after extraction
  • Rinse your mouth with warm salt water two times a day after 48hrs of surgery

Don’ts

  • Avoid vigorous rinsing and spitting for 24 hours
  • Avoid eating hard,hot and spicy food
  • Do not smoke or drinkTake the prescribed medication on time
  • Do not use straw
  • Maintain oral hygiene
  • Don’t touch the surgical area with tongue of fingers
  • Avoid sternous exercise
